Mary studied 3D design at Manchester Polytechnic and recently received her Masters in Design from Brighton University. Running her own studio for twelve years 'Kooky Krocks' was her most recent range of quirky designed, decorated tableware which sells to shops and galleries internationally. Since graduating from Kent Institute of Art and Design George has worked as a ceramic sculptor as well as producing a successful range of slip cast tableware. Mary and George have combined their skills to realize M&G Potts. With this range of stoneware vases M&G hope to achieve a balance of function and aesthetic, with an attention to craft skills. The techniques used are traditional; each piece is original being hand decorated with coloured slips and sgraffito. The stoneware vases are slip cast in their studio in Brighton from hand built originals. Pieces are glazed and fired to 1260 degrees centigrade. The Vases range in size from a small bud vase to a very tall vessel. Shapes are organic and designed to be functional, pattern is simple and direct, inspired by nature. Mary and George intend to gradually increase the collection. |
